Macro Editor

Macro Editor can be accessed from Edit Macros and New Macro buttons on the ribbon. It can be used for:

  • Creating new macros and editing existing macros
  • Inspecting the details of existing macros
  • Uploading macros to Macroland
  • Running macros step by step under the debugger
  • Browsing the object hierarchy of OneNote with Object Browser

General Macro Info and Actions

Macro Editor has controls to edit the name, category and description of a macro at the top. Right below them you can find the developer tools:

  • Undo (Ctrl+Z): Reverts the last change in the macro editor
  • Redo (Ctrl+Y): Reapplies the last change that was reverted by Undo in the macro editor
  • Debug (F10): Starts the current macro under the debugger, waits at the first statement
  • Run Under Debugger (F5): Runs the current macro under the debugger
  • Run (Ctrl+F5): Runs the current macro
  • Object Browser: Displays or hides the Object Browser to see object hierarchy of OneNote

At the bottom there are the following buttons:

  • Share on Macroland: Upload the current macro to Macroland
  • Delete: Delete the current macro
  • Edit XML: Displays the underlying XML code for hand editing
  • Save: Save changes to the current macro
  • Save & Close: Save changes to the current macro and close the Macro Editor window
