Would love it if you could add a toggle to sort all levels or just by first level.

I want to sort ascending on first level (subject) but then descending on internal pages (dates).
With a toggle I could achieve this by first running on all levels by descending order and then run with toggle off (i.e. first level only) in ascending order.

One quirky thing. I had #p000 where 000's are numbers in front of my parent pages - which are project numbers.  The sorting was strange due to the #.  For example, if had the following

      child 1
#p005
     #p005 child 1
     #p005 child 2
     child 3

it would reorder them as follows:

#p004
      child 1
     #p005 child 1
     #p005 child 2
#p005
     child 3

I realize "#" is a weird symbol to use so my workaround was to change my #'s to "." instead - and the ordering worked fine.

How do I file a bug-report on the macro?

It sorts incorrectly if the pages look like this

here it moves the 2//1 page to below 1/1/1 (inside 1/1), because it does not have a parent at one level above it. It looks like the macro just remember the last page at a given level, which is incorrect. When ever a page is seen at for instance level 2 it should set this page as the parent page for all sublevels eg level 3+4.

This macro would work well, except for one little thing. I save a lot of Arabian horse info in Onenote and some of these horses are imported - they have an asterisk before their name. I would like *Witez II with the rest of the W's instead at the top of the pages. Anyway to fix this? That is If * then goto second character, else continue. Or something like that.

I use one note to save information in pages that have alpha-numeric titles e.g. 11 Terrance Pl, 56 Read St, 20 Louise Ln, 87 Terrance Pl.
If I use the current "Sort Pages" Macro. If I use the ascending option it will sort the pages in this fashion:
11 Terrance Pl
20 Louise Ln
56 Read St
87 Terrance Pl
How do I reprogram the sort macro to sort by the Name then Number in Ascending order e.g:
11 Terrance Pl
87 Terrance Pl
56 Read St
etc?

Joanne: The downloaded macro should be opened with MacroInstaller.exe, which is at C:\program files\onetastic, or c:\program files (x86)\onetastic. Alternatively you can use the Download Macros button in OneNote to directly download into OneNote without downloading a file and opening it.

This worked fine for me except for password protected sections which would not sort. Not a show stopper however.

Looks like the "GetCurrentSection().pages" line does not like protected sections?

I love this! Thank you so much for creating it. I'm also looking for the ability to search for a word in my page title and have it selected in the page pane automatically so that I can batch move all selected items to another tab in the Notebook. Do you have anything like that? Right now when you search for words in your notebook, it doesn't let you select the list of results in order to do anything with it.

This is what I was looking for to alphabetize my pages within my notebooks.
After you download the sort Macro you will need to make sure that you choose "sort pages in all sections" and then choose ascending order. It is not a one step process that we are use to in word or excel.

Looks interesting so I downloaded Onetastic and the Sort Pages macro. Unfortunately I am running Win 7 and while there are new macro commands on the ribbon such as "Download", "Edit", and "New", there is no selection for "Run". I can Create macros, Edit macros, but I can't Run macros. I had hoped this would be the solution to the sorting issue I have but I guess Win 7 is just too old.

When I run this macro, my sub-pages don't stay under their parent pages. Instead, all pages in the section are sorted by title, with no differentiation between parent pages and sub-pages.

Just started using OneNote today. Created just a few pages when I realized they needed to be sorted A-Z. Actually shocked it wasn't a native OneNote function. Searched the web and soon found:
"Sort Pages-Ascending/Descending".
Great Macro. Works as described. For me OneNote would be useless without a page sorting function. Thank you very much!

Good morning, I just installed this and it's not sorting as I expected. I have page titles starting with symbols like % and ^, as well as titles starting with letters or numbers. It is sorting the % before numbers, and the ^ after numbers, and then letters after ^. I would expect all symbols to be before numbers - is this possible?

Just one more question: the subpages are sorted amongst themselves, meaning that if I sorted them manually for whatever reason, this sorting is changed by the macro. Does that happen by intention? great macro, but if you sort descending, the subpages do not stay under their parent pages and sorted among themselves. Instead they are also sorted in reverse order meaning they are sorted above the parent page and therefore are subpages of a different parent page.
Is there an easy solution or am I doing something wrong?

I couldn't spot an option for it. And the macro doesn't seem to flip between forward and backward sorting. I wasn't expecting that it could sort backward, but I'd use the facility if it existed. Thanks - it's a very useful macro just for forward sorting!
