I have tried several times to accomplish what I need with this Macro and it keeps giving me the same error: No highlighted text found in Current Page.  I am doing a lot of research and I have both used the "clipper" to import the page or article that I am using and I also tried copying and pasting from the website into onenote. Is there any way to extract the text after I highlight it? Thanks in advance! Denny

NickP/Guillaume: This macro is now updated with an option to extract highlighted text in Current Section, Current Section Group, Current Notebook, and All Notebooks. The results are displayed in a new page (if the scope is not current page), grouped by section > page and links are provided for each of the highlighted text.

Do you have any update on that topic ? It would be great if we can do the same thing across a section, instead of a page.

Can you provide a macro that would allow the extraction of highlighted text not just in a single page, but across an entire Notebook? Preferably generating a separate page with a link to the original files, before or after each extracted text.
     I like to highlight important text within long articles, and this would allow allow me to gather all this information into one page.

I just figured out the problem: if the text including highlights is in a table, the macro will extract all of the text. If that same text is on a blank OneNote page, the macro works fine. My apologies.

I downloaded this macro & am experiencing the same type of phenomenon as Paranam Kid: all the text is extracted, or copied to the bottom of the page to put it more accurately.

First use on a page will work fine
Second use and subsequent will extract all text

More about buggy case,
1) if i highlighted say two separate words in a paragraph, the 'full extract' will have ''add'' paragraph breaks around these word.
2) if i do extract 1, then 2 on page A ; go to page B and do 2 extracts ; come back to page A and do a '3rd' extract : it's still bugyy
3) i close onenote and go to page A, try a new extract... still extracts everything
Please note : i have a lot of paragraph with no highlighted text at all.


It looks like that after the execution of the macro, all the text has a 'highlighted' property of some sort.
But that seems implausible when i have a look at the code (which i far from understand) : !($TextObject_1.highlightColor != "#000000") I read this code as : text that is not highlighted in white. Looking at my page I can clearly see that the text has not been highlighted.
To be certain I selected all the text of the page and set it to no highlight (color=none on my French UI) . Then i highlighted a couple of words and launched macro... all text extracted again.

One last word : it would be nice to keep the different color highlights in the extracted text (it's easy in cas you don't want to remove them all). It would make the outcome much more usefull.

If there is a TOC on the page, that will will be extracted too, as well as a lot of non-highlighted text. So the macro is still buggy.

This macro extracts all the text in the paragraph and not only highlighted text. Practically, it prints all the text in the paragraph without highlights. Useless.
