Very useful, thanks. Would appreciate though if you could manage NOT to overwrite the first cell, which usually contains a column heading. Perhaps you could either ask the user if a column heading exists or begin numbering beginning with the cursor-cell position.

Ah, can I prevent this from numbering from the top cell in the first table on a page where there are multiple tables on a page?

Seems to work great if you only have one table on the page you're using it on, but if I've got more than one table, it numbers them all sequentially, ie as though they're all one big table...
